New investment in a more sustainable production!
We have invested in a new diamond wire-saw at our Mäntsälä Aurora quarry. Compared to split drilling, split sawing gives more precise and smoother edges to the granite block, which enables a more detailed inspection of the stone's color and possible defects.
"The future of granite production is in wire-sawing. All our quarries already use wire-sawing to remove large pieces. This mobile finishing saw streamlines the production process, reduces side stone generation and supports sustainable development. Currently, the saw can be moved between our quarries as needed, but we will consider similar investments for our other quarries as well," says Palin Granit's production director Pauli Salmela.
Thanks to the saw, we are able to utilize the stones more efficiently, which means more useful cubic meters and better quality end products. In addition, waste cargo generated during transport is reduced.
Best of all, our new saw is mobile and runs on electricity, so we're taking another step towards a more sustainable future!
